THE BALLAD OF GENESIS AND LADY JAYE
Director: Marie Losier

With ENG subtitles
A documentary on artist Genesis Breyer P-Orridge and his wife and collaborator, Lady Jaye, centered around the transformations the pair underwent for their Pandrogyne project.
Celebrated as one of the founders of industrial music, Genesis P-Orridge has helped transform rock and electronic music, as he expands the horizon of the performing arts. In 2000, he began his most radical performance: by undergoing a series of plastic surgery operations, Genesis slowly transformed himself into Lady Jaye, his artistic partner and the love of his life. As he becomes her, through a triumphant act of artistic self-expression, Genesis is also forced to witness the death of his companion. “To Genesis, finishing the film was the best way to celebrate his love and his life with Jaye; it is a message of hope and solidarity for all artists and all those who love, regardless of genre or sexual orientation. Since I was given the privilege of witnessing first-hand the many years of their shared professional and personal life, I was able to gather material which goes beyond that of many fiction films but whose message is in essence rooted in the most human and basic of desires: the confirmation of love.”
