Kaņepes Kultūras centrā 19. decembrī tiks atvērts Latvijā pirmais "kopienas skapis" (angļu valodā - community fridge). Lai nosvinētu šo notikumu, Kino Augusts piedāvā saviem skatītājiem iespēju iedziļināties pārtikas pārprodukcijas un izšķērdēšanas problēmā, kopīgi skatoties dokumentālo filmu "Taste the Waste".
Posmā no ēdiena saražošanas līdz nonākšanai uz mūsu galdiem, vairāk kā puse no saražotā ēdiena nonāk izgāztuvē. Lielākā daļa no šī ēdiena nav pat sasniedzis savu potenciālo patērētāju, nemaz nerunājot par vairāk kā 100 miljardus eiro vērto ēdienu, kuru atkritumos izmet patērētāji visā Eiropā. Ēdienam nonākot izgāztuvē un sākoties pūšanas procesam, atmosfērā nonāk ievērojams daudzums metāna, kurš atstāj graujošu ietekmi uz pasaules klimatu.
Bet kādēļ mēs izmetam tik daudz ēdiena? Kā mēs varam šo problēmu risināt? Valentīns Tērns savā filmā meklē atbildes uz šiem jautājumiem.
Biļetes: 4 EUR iepriekšpārdošanā un pie ieejas. Īpaša atlaide studentiem un pensionāriem, vienas biļetes cena: 3 EUR

On December 19th Kaņepes Kultūras centrs will open the first community fridge in Latvia. To celebrate this occasion Kino Augusts offers you to dig deeper into the topic of food waste with the scandalous documentary film "Taste the Waste" by Valentin Thurn.
On the way from the farm to the dining-room table, more than half the food lands on the dump. Most of it even before it ever reaches consumers. On top of this, European households throw away 100 billion Euros worth of food each year. Additionally, whenever food rots away at a garbage dump, methane escapes into the atmosphere, a climate gas with an effect 25 times as powerful as carbon dioxide. In other words: when we waste half of our food that has a disastrous impact also on the world climate.
It’s a system that we all take part in: Supermarkets constantly have the complete selection of merchandise on offer, the bread on the shelves has to be fresh until late in the evening and everything has to look just right.
Why do we throw away so much food? And how can we stop this kind of waste? Valentin Thurn seeks for explanations, why masses of food are being destroyed each year.
Tickets: 4 EUR online or at the entrance. Special discount for students and seniors, one ticket price: 3 EUR.
Event is created in collaboration with Goethe-Institut Riga.
