About the show "How A Spiral Works"

Art For Rainy Days performance "How A Spiral Works" is a unique, meditative, hypnotic contemporary circus, blending contemporary dance, hair hanging & aerial rope with reinvented Baltic folk music & minimal aesthetics. It provokes an audience to consider slowness and challenges the idea of circus as a spectacle.

Renowned British circus dramaturg Jason Dupree in collaboration with acclaimed choreographer Alise Bokaldere (LV) and the incredible aerialist Izabele Kuzelyte (LT). The trio join forces to create a collaboration between the west and east of Europe. In this piece, the artists merge their traditional values and modern outlooks.
One dancer, one aerialist, one dramaturg, and one rope explore the act of R-evolving.

The research tries to find new ways of representing contemporary circus, stretching the boundaries of it, uniting with dance and digital arts. Searching for new perspectives and innovative applications while still maintaining the beauty of simplicity.

About Art for Rainy Days the company

Art For Rainy Days is a performance collective made up of a circus artist Izabelė Kuzelytė, a dancer Alise Bokaldere and a dramaturg Jason Dupree. Combining perceptions, the aim is simple: to be inspired by each other's artistic standpoints and to create by melting brains. Art For Rainy Days is a slow breakfast, scribbles in notebook, a daydream. Artwork inspired by tasks and projects taken up on unproductive days to relax, breathe and find time for yourself.
