On October 31st, we are continuing the tradition of hosting a special Halloween jazz concert at the MASA jazz club — a truly frightful and simply terrifying evening designed to scare away all evil spirits until next year.
The roots of Halloween traditions lie in the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, a time when the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead was believed to be especially thin. People would don masks and costumes, light bonfires, and seek to protect themselves from wandering spirits.
On this evening, burlesque enchantress Zoe Stiefel will use her guises and dance magic to ward off malevolent forces, while the Volha & Bari Trio will summon the spirits of jazz legends from the beyond to perform alongside them on the threshold between worlds.
Line-up:
Zoe Stiefel — burlesque performance
Volha & Bari — baritone saxophone, vocals
Santa Kauliņa — piano, vocals
Yurii Natsvlishvili — double bass
