Riga Gospel Choir and conductor, soloist Kristīne Prauliņa invite you to a concert at Palladium Concert Hall on Sunday, November 9, at 5:00 PM!
The concert is planned in two parts. As Kristīne Prauliņa shares:
“This will be an especially energetic, colorful, uplifting concert, where we will bring out the brightest treasures of gospel music – this music clothes the human spiritual journey in harmonies, shades of sound, and sacred texts that refresh the heart. It is also a confident declaration of faith that awakens, stirs, and lifts you up. This time, we will embrace both the primal power of spirituals and the juicy groove and hip-hop references of modern gospel music. It’s going to be powerful”.
Riga Gospel Choir is a two-time World Choir Games gold medal winner. The choir’s artistic director and conductor is singer Kristīne Prauliņa, Grand Prix winner of the international jazz artist competition Riga Jazz Stage. She first became widely known through collaborations with maestro Raimonds Pauls and the Latvian Radio Big Band, and in recent years has gained both audience and critic acclaim with her solo project alongside The Soulful Crew.
Founded in 2003, Riga Gospel Choir has performed across Europe and the United States, and has taken part in a variety of local and international projects with popular performers – from joining Brainstorm on their “Tin Drum Tour” and recording the Latvian-language soundtrack for Disney’s The Lion King, to performing with Grammy Award winners Donald Lawrence and Myron Butler from the USA, Karen Gibson – conductor of The Kingdom Choir, who rose to fame at the British royal wedding, Ukrainian pop star Ivan Dorn, and many others.
The choir and soloists will be accompanied by outstanding musicians: pianists Toms Mikāls and Andris Kauliņš, guitarist Jānis Kalniņš, bassist Valters Sprūdžs, and percussionist Toms Kagainis.
The concert will be opened and the atmosphere set by DJ Daniel_9_18 – a longtime friend of the choir, member of Safe Crash crew and one of the curators of Daydream Jazz, known for his ability to unite diverse sound worlds. His sets merge jazz, funk, gospel, and rhythms from Brazil and Africa, creating a deeply pulsating and stylistically rich experience.
