Event "Concert // Sig, Orubs, Truffaz" organizer: Kaņepes Laikmetīgās Kultūras centrs, Biedrība
On Thursday, December 13, a special concert will be held at Kaņepes Kultūras centrs, as French trumpeter Erik Truffaz, percussionist, piano and cello master Siegfried, and Latvian jazz drummer Artis Orub will take the stage.
As a musical trio in Latvia, together musicians have already played at such stages as Dailes theatre or The Riga Latvian Society. At that time, the musicians got a lot of approval and praise from the audience, and they once again proved there really are no questions of their talent. Erik Truffaz is a world-class musician, Siegfried is not only a musical but also a multi-artist - his featured film Riga (Take 1) recently won in one of the categories or "Lielais Kristaps", while Artis Orubs is a talented jazz drummer and a producer. Occasionally, such talented artists are rarely encountered playing together, and what's more - not in Latvia. Well, this is about to change, as some jazz sparks will be spotted on Thursday, at KKC.
French trumpeter and virtuoso Erik Truffaz learned the world of professional music early - his father was a saxophonist himself and, before reaching the age of ten, his childhood was spent in a dance music orchestra. As he studied at the Geneva Conservatoire, his musical horizons expanded from such authorities as Miles Davis to Mozart and Giuseppe Verdi. For some time he performed at the Swedish Symphony Orchestra "L'Orchestre de Suisse Romanda", later followed by performing with his band "Orange". Truffaz has repeatedly participated in the prestigious "Montreux Jazz Festival", as well as has traveled Europe, Russia and Central America on concert tours. When listening to Truffaz, you can hear the growing tendency to break the boundaries, injecting jazz into vibrant and modern drum "n" bass (jazz and electronics synthesis) and hip-hop trends.
Siegfried is a French musician and composer of Arab origin, who manages cello, piano, and percussion; from his taste and horizons, no music genre is spacious enough. Ziegfried's talent doesn't stop in music but continued to expand into the cinema and photography world. Recently, Elita Krastiņa received the award in Zigfrida's film "Riga (Take1)" at the Latvian Film Awards ceremony "Lielais Kristaps" as the best actress, as well as media focused on the soundtrack of the film, which included the participation of the band's "Daft Punk" musician Thomas Bangalter.
Artis Orubs is a known percussion professional in Latvia. He started his studies at the Emīla Darziņa Music School, continued by the Utrecht and Amsterdam Conservatoire, and the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music. Orubs is not limited to only classical jazz and improvisation directions but has also turned to composition and production. Through his musical career, he's participated in several CD tracks and master classes, both in Utrecht and Amsterdam, nominated and won awards in various contests.
