On March 27, Hermanis/Zviedris Quartet will perform at MASA Jazz Club, presenting original contemporary jazz music created during the musicians’ studies and collaborations in the Netherlands and Denmark.
The quartet’s sound is rooted in European and American jazz traditions and draws inspiration from the ECM aesthetic. The program combines open improvisation, lyrical melodic lines, and atmospheric textures, maintaining a balance between clear structure and musical freedom.
At the core of the ensemble are guitarist and composer Ernests Zviedris and drummer and composer Rihards Hermanis, joined by tenor saxophonist Kristers Lauriņš and double bassist Emīls Bogdanovičs.
Zviedris is currently completing his master’s degree in jazz guitar at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, actively participating in the local jazz scene. Hermanis studies at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, Denmark, after finishing his bachelor’s degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
Bringing together international experience and a shared musical vision, the quartet continues to develop a distinct and evolving sound.
