On July 17, Swiss pianist and composer Laurent Nicoud will perform at the MASA jazz club together with Finnish drummer Lauri Kusalo.
The concert will feature the program "Book of Ostinatos", which collects compositions created from 2017 to 2024 in New York before returning to Switzerland. The program is centered on the ostinato principle – a repeating rhythmic or melodic motif that becomes the basis for improvisation and the development of compositions.
Laurent Nicoud combines the tradition of classical piano music, contemporary jazz and improvisation in his music. The program is inspired by the influences of modern jazz, Latin American, oriental and classical music, creating a personal musical language.
