2 Day Cell Phone Cinema Workshop with Professor Karl Bardosh
Within the framework of the International Short Film Festival 2 Annas, the National Film Center’s MEDIA Desk and creative agency CREA Promotion presents a unique cell phone cinema workshop by professor Karl Bardosh from New York University. The seminar will take place on February 15 – 16 at Rīgas Mazais Teātris and will be conducted in English.
“Hollywood in your Pocket” that’s what Cell Phone Cinema means. Today everyone can learn the language of film and television, whilst carrying in their pocket a Smart Phone, which is in reality a full film studio. From writing, to shooting, editing as well as instant distribution, it’s all there. Cell Phone Cinema changes the World by putting this most powerful tool of audiovisual communication in the hands of masses of people from across the Globe,” states Professor Karl Bardosh.
Karl Bardosh has accumulated over 30 years of professional experience in Europe, Asia, Brazil, Hollywood and New York in all genres of film and television. He is award-winning director, producer, writer, editor of features, shorts, television series and documentaries. Throughout these years Prof. Bardosh has been a trendsetting pioneer in many areas of film and television. He has also been titled Father of the Cellphone Cinema.
Karl Bardosh has been teaching 30 different courses during his 25 years tenure at New York University Tisch School of the Arts including a course of his own design “Cell Phone Cinema” at NYU since 2009 and “No Excuses Cinema: Micro-budget Features” since 2012. During the first day of the Riga workshop we’ll find out how the idea of cell phone cinema has developed over the years, get to know the most popular apps used for shooting and camera support systems. On the second day of the workshop we’ll learn about apps used in the production and postproduction process (location scouting, casting, sound), as well as do some hands-on filming. How to particpate:
A symbolic participation fee for the workshop is 50.00 EUR for two days per participant. Remember the seats are limited. You are welcome to fill out the application form here by February 5 at 12.00. Workshop time each day from 11.00 am till 4 pm with coffee breat at lunch time.
