FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2021: Rising Stars in Riga and Daugavpils
FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup is scheduled to take place in Riga and Daugavpils from July 3 to July 11, 2021. Tournament with 16 leading teams from all around the world competes in the most prestigious youth basketball cup, including many future NBA and Euroleague club players.
Only spectators who recovered from Covid-19 or able to present Covid-19 vaccination certificate (applicable to all ages) recognized in Latvia will be able to attend the games in person.
In the first stage, from July 3 to July 6, the teams will compete in group tournaments, clarifying the ranking table.
A group (Daugavpils) – Japan, Lithuania, Canada, Senegal;
B group (Daugavpils) – Iran, Latvia, Puerto Rico, Serbia;
C group (Riga, OSC) – Argentina, South Korea, France, Spain;
F group (Riga, OSC) – USA, Australia, Mali, Turkey.
The tournament group games will be played on July 3, 4 and 6 (8 daily games). All group games of the Latvian team will take place at the Daugavpils Olympic Center at 18.00.
All 1/8-final games will be played on Wednesday, July 7. The winners will continue to fight for the champions cup, but the losers will compete for the 9th-16th place. Teams of groups A and B will play each other (A1-B4, A2-B3, B2-A3, B1-A4) in Daugavpils, the other groups C and D start their play-off runs (C1-D4, C2-D3, D2-C3, D1-C4) in OSC, Riga.
From July 9 to July 11, Arena Riga and OSC will host quarter-finals for 1st-8th and 9th-16th places, semi-final matches for 1st-4th, 5th-8th, 9th-12th, 13th -16th places and finals for 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 11th, 13th and 15th place.
