Wojtek Szczepanik is a young Polish neoclassical composer, pianist and producer, who one day discovered how much beauty has the clear sound of the piano. Since then the instrument plays a key role in his creative process. On his musical path he had contact with different kind of music. Playing rock music have learned him how to find a contrast between energy and peace, by blues he found a way to express himslef through improvisation, and thanks to Jazz into his blood entered syncopation and harmonic solutions. He uses all elements to create neoclassical music.
In 2014 he released debut album „Margines” and 3 years later second album „INSTINCT” on swedish label 1631 Recordings. When the first production was a shy and innocent step forward, the second one is a brave enter into the music market.
INSTINCT is not just a collection of 8 songs, it is definitely something more… It is a musical attempt to catch the beauty of Nature – its calmness and power. It it also a perfect gateway from the city life. It’s not easy to create a unique sound but an artist should search for it and experiment. That’s why the piano was moved and set it in the center of the historic chapel from 18th century. The construction is fully wooden which changes the timbre for warmer, deeper and richer. I’d say there are two instruments in the album – one is surely the piano and the other one is the chapel itself. Together they form a deep connection between music, nature and faith. The piano is tuned according to the A-432 Hz standard. This standard is very beneficial to the human body since it resonates perfectly with the human organs.
