The Great Ķemeri Bog – the third largest national park in Latvia – is a real grandfather thanks to its 8,000 years long history. Once you get there, a path will take you through the forest ending at the boardwalk. This is where your heart will skip a beat!
The boardwalk winding like a snake guides visitors through the world of moss, miniature pine trees, tiny, dark lakes and the wild fauna of the bog.
You can choose one of the two journeys. Those who prefer shorter walks can take the 1.4 km route while those who likes challenges can choose the longer one of 3.4 km. This one will reward you with a chance to climb the observation tower that offers a magnificent view of the bog from above.
Nowadays, the Great Ķemeri Bog Boardwalk has become a popular place attracting a lot of photographers taking shots of perfect sunrise and sunset scenes regardless of the season or weather.
