During the experimental film festival "Process" on March 24 at 18.00 in Kino Bize cinema there will be a "Structural film" programme consisting of international short, experimental films where the use of celluloid has been part of the process of the film. Programme will be accompanied with a little introduction of progamme curator Jānis Putniņš.Some of the films will be screened on their original 16mm and 8mm formats.
In programme’s films the very structure of the film medium with its mechanisms, materiality and being in time is posed as the main organisational force. Light, movement, time, the physicality of film instead of working as a means of representation turn into substantive units that don’t disappear behind the image but get into intensive relations with it. For the spectator, these works offer a radically different film viewing experience where narrative has been replaced with a direct and immediate workings of the projected images.
